the "topmods" look great! but i would have to agree with a lot of what ~barmin has pointed out..perhaps a better camera angle to really show off the subject a little better. Don't give up.. keep up the good fight! :)

I like it very much! But I'll drop you some comments, as you asked:

- The shadows could be a los softer, by increasing the light's subdivs.

- Try using more than 1 light. It enhances the depths and looks more realistic.

- This just a matter of style: Maybe instead of reflecting the lights, it would look better (more eyecandy) if you give those 'knots' an HDRI environment map to reflect, and bypass the light's reflection. It makes it more realistic, also, as in relity, no refelction is as clean as thos depicted. But this one is completly up to your likeness and style.

- One last thing: It looks like the light is a bit too bright. Some parts look overburnt. Maybe it was intended.
